MACKAY: On Friday 10th January at Strathan Skerray in his 78th year George Clark Mackay beloved husband of Johan Bruce Mackay. Deeply mourned; sadly missed.
Obituary: Skerray News - The death occurred early on Saturday morning of Mr George Mackay, Strathan, Skerray. The deceased gentleman who had attained ripe old age, had been in failing health for some time but only recently had he been confined to bed. He was for many years Inspector of Poor for the Parish of Tongue and for over 20 years Attendance Officer of the Tongue and Skerray Public Schools, a position now held by his son Mr Hector W. Mackay. Subsequent to his retiral from the Inspectorship of Poor he became a valued member of the Parish Council but owing to advancing years he did not allow his name to go forward as a candidate at the last election. He was for many years an elder of the old United Free Church. Special reference was made to his worth and work in all the churches at Skerray, Tongue and Melness. (NT 16/01/1930).
