This stone was barely legible the day I
visited the churchyard, the lettering is lead on very dark granite, and
the stone was in shade. The inscription begins:
"Erected by the family of CHRISTINA MACKAY, who died 29 Oct. 1901 age
27".
The Cowper & Ross transcript shows that her husband, JOHN MACKAY, died 30th June 1959 aged 89. His
second wife, ANGUSINA MORRISON, died 17th November 1959 aged 80. His
mother, MARY MACKAY, died 20th April 1902 aged 60. And his father,
GEORGE MACKAY, died 18th February 1910 aged 86.
The flanking modern stones are probably members of the same family.
