Robert Beatson was a Boiler Maker and worked for the railway designing and building steam boilers. He left school to support the family at age 13 even though he was the Dux of his school in Glasgow. He also was a member of the Boiler Makers' Union and served in various positions for 40 years of continuous service. He fell in his kitchen at 1 Baliol Street, Kinghorn and was unable to get up for three days. One of the neighbors checked in and found him and he was hospitalized. He was recovering well but contracted influenza in hospital and died as a result.
Robert (Bob) Beatson and Isabella (Isa) Beatson lived at 24 Baliol Street until 1980 and then moved in to 1 Baliol Street. Isa was pretty much house bound for the last two years of her life because of an injured back so this location close to Kinghorn High Street was easier for shopping etc.

Robert worked as a shipyard riveter.

1926: Robert was married from 23, Birrell's Wynd, Kinghorn, Fife (not the family home - perhaps Robert was in lodgings).

1943: registered mother's death, Kinghorn, Fife. 3

1944-1985: he resided at 1, Baliol Street, Kinghorn, Fife. 4
