Joan Gardner 2008-09-28 to Mary Young re Conlin movements.
When checking out the Banks file for the information Bev was asking about, I notice the Conlin's were living in Edmonton, Alberta, so I decided to check out the Passenger List to see when they came here.
I was surprised to find out the Elizabeth Ann Banks Conlin was a Widow when she came here.
Elizabeth Ann came to Canada 9 May 1909 Information on list was birth about 1863, Ship was the Grampian, Port of Departure was Glasgow, Scotland, Port of Arrival was Quebec and she was a Widow.
Children that came with her were: Martha, age 11; George age 9; Isaac age 4.
I found her on the 1911 Census for Edmonton, Alberta, listed as a widow, ,at 548 Isabella Street, Edmonton, Alberta. George, Isaac and Martha were living with her.
I found a James Conlin, birth about 1891 who arrived in Canada 10 May 1908 on the ship Jonian, port of departure, Glasgow, Scotland, Port of Arrival Montreal, Quebec.
I found a James Conlin's Attestation Papers on a WW1 site, Mother was Mrs. James Conlin, date of birth was 20 August 1890, Scotland. Enlisted in Edmonth, Alberta.
I always presumed that Elizabeth and James Conlin, Sr. came here together, but it looks like she came here to join her son. So far I have not found the other children on the Passenger Lists, but will keep trying.
