Janet Morton or Beatson, and Ann Manners or Vallance, from Kinghorn, were charged with having on the 13th Oct., committed a breach of the peace at Kinghorn, aggravated in the case of Vallance by having been previously convicted of a similar offence. On the present occasion she was also accused of the crime of assault. Both prisoners pled not guilty, and the case proceeded to trial, during the progress of which Manners or Vallance behaved in so noisy a manner as to call from the Sheriff the remark that she had better remember she was in a court, and not on the streets of Kinghorn. At the conclusion of the evidence both panels were found guilty, and fined 20s each, with the alternative of twenty days in limbo.
